A Study on Risk Factors of Musculoskeletal Disorder and Physical Pain Experience Rates among Female Sedentary Workers

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find the risk factors of musculoskeletal disorder and physical pain experience rates on the among female sedentary workers. The data was collected by a self recorded method of questionnaire from October 1, 2005 to January 31, 2006, and 400 samples have been selected production workers, office workers and telephone operators in Seoul and Chungnam. The results were as follows, The pain experience rate of musculoskeletal symptoms, in the last one year was 66.8%, 52.5% of respondents answered they had pain on shoulders, 32.3% had pain on necks, 29.5% had hands, wrists and fingers, 29.5% had pain on waist and 14.8% had pain arms and elbows more than disease on necks, shoulders, arms and elbows, hands, wrists and fingers, waist. The risk factors on musculoskeletal disorder index were analysed by multiple linear regression analysis. There are an appetite custom (¥â=0.22), type of job (¥â=0.21), working posture(¥â=0.20), work period (¥â=0.20) and regular exercise(¥â=0.17). Determinant coefficients was 16.2%. Therefore, in order to prevent musculoskeletal symptoms of female workers, working posture shall be improved and leisure opportunities to relieve stress, and health management education shall be provided.
